It's the middle of November. My car thermostat read 64 degrees. Kind of warm for this month. "That's Mississippi weather for you," I said out loud, with a hint of humor. "When is it really going to get cold?" I thought to myself. "A white Christmas would be highly appreciated." My mind began to wonder to the last Christmas when it actually snowed here in Mississippi. Then I got a quick check in my spirit, as if God was saying to me, "Why rush this season for the next?"
Winter is called for Winter. Did you know that some animals, such as bears and chipmunks go into the state of hibernation during the Winter? Although we know for tree branches to be bare, some flowers actually still bloom during the this dry season. Fall. The withering of the leaves. The smell of spice. The sound of joy ringing from carnival rides. Those rich golden earth tones. Longer nights, shorter days. Fall is a season of "preparation," and a season of "gathering." The saying goes,"Spring Showers Bring May Flowers" We CAN NOT have the beautiful tulips and daisies, the ripe watermelons, and the humidity of Summer, without the buzz of bees, the sniffles from pollen, and the cool breeze of Spring. Fun fact: a lot of animals tend to have their babies in the Spring and plants grow twice as fast in the Summer than any other season.
My point, each season brings about its own portion of life. The next season can not possibly come about, without the aid of the prior one. Whatever foundation that God is laying in this season of your life is vital for the next that you're going into. I recall a season in my husband life where he kept taking loss after loss in his business. For years, he kept making minor mistakes on his contracts that would cost him mighty. It was no doubt an uncomfortable season for us. We were under such a financially strain. He would be so stressed and frustrated and just didn't understand why he was making so many mistakes, one after another. Then as he grew as a Developer and grew in knowledge, he began to learn from his mistakes and his business flourished literally like a "Cedar in the Lebanon." We look back at that particular season of our lives and just know that God used it as a season of wilderness, for our current season. It wasn't pretty. Not one that we would wish upon anyone, but every mistake was worth it. In those seasons he became a "Leader"
Maybe this season is a season of unbearable pain, frustration, rejection, financial strain, or maybe you've experienced a lot of loss. Maybe this is a season of rest for you, God wants more of your undivided attention and wants raw communion. Or is it a season of Harvest? You've sowed and sowed and now its the time to reap. New house? New car? Baby news? One thing for sure, this season didn't come easy. It didn't come forth without any sacrifice, work, discipline, and dedication from the last season. Rather you're in any of the seasons mentioned above or one totally different, Sis, rejoice! As silly and thoughtless as that might sound, Rejoice. Trouble don't last always. John 16:33 New International Version (NIV) “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Use your weapon of worship and praise your way right out of it, cause you're coming out. Wake up every morning, optimistic no matter what. Take heart that Jesus has given you the victory in every situation. It might not look promising right now, but it's working in your favor.
Jesus Loves You Just That Much,
