Spending Alone Time With God

I get asked this question quit a bit, "How do you spend your alone time with God?" So I thought it'll be a good time to write about it. Might I add, however you choose to spend your alone time with the Lord, is perfectly FINE. There's no right or wrong way to do it. However, as you grow in Christ, He will start to demand more of you. Your posture might change in your alone time with Him. You might have started off sitting straight up during your alone time. Later, it might change to you being on bended knees, next you might begin to lay out on your face, before Him. How long you stay in His presence praying may begin to lengthen. He might deal with you on what time He will want you to spend in His presence, early mornings, late nights. It just all depends. Some days He might just have you interceding for others, while other days you worship, pray, and study. So don't think just because your "alone time" don't look like mines or sister so and so that it's wrong. Your alone time is beautiful, unique, and to Jesus, your alone time with Him is Everything!
Food For Thought: Your alone time with God is very essential to your walk with Christ. It's not something you have a choice in doing or not, BUT it is a MUST. If you intend to mature and grow closer to God, then its something that HAVE to be done and done DAILY.
I encourage everyone to find that "secret place" in their home to spend with God at. It can be a corner in your living room, a space in your closet, or under your stair case. Just find a place where you can meet Jesus at everyday. "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:6)
1) The Power of Music. Before EVERY "alone time" I set the tone and invite His spirit in with worship music. If I know that I'm about to spend some time with God, I will put on some music probably fifth teen minutes prior, and just let his spirit saturate the room. I'll do this all the while I go finish tending to some last minute house cares, before I get started. That way when I do start, His presence is already awaiting me.
2) Enter His Gates With Thanksgiving. Picture this, You're in the presence of the Holy Living God, and the first thing that comes out of your mouth goes something like this ... "God I need this... or I don't have that... Lord why this? Why that? When are you going to do this thing for me God?" Can you picture yourself doing that? Of course not, because I know none of my sisters thats reading this post do any of that right? We dare not come into His presence requesting His hand without thanking him for all He has already done, first. So yes, my second step is just thanking Him for being God alone - and we all know that "Thanking" Him can go a long long way. *Spirit hugs*
3) Repentance. Ask God for forgiveness of your sins known and unknown. Repenting is a daily act of faith. Never assume that you are without sin, even if you are a born again believer. I ask God to give me a heart of repentance, a heart of praise, heart of worship, and a heart serve Him.
4) Praise and Worship. Love on Him and love Him some more. This is where your deeply love and affectionate for our King Jesus comes in at. He loves loves loves to hear how dear He is to us and how He's our everything. Not only do we showcase our praise and worship through music, but we also showcase it through our reverence and obedience to Him. Praise and worship SHOULD NOT be something we only practice at church, but something we do in our homes as well."Make a joyful noise, shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness, come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God. It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people and the seep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise." (Psalm 100:1-4)
5) Prayer. Lay out before God. Cry out if you need to. You have Jesus at your very beckoning need. His face has literally turned toward yours, his ears are opened to your prayers, and He's ready to move on your behalf. This is the time to tell God about that co worker that gets on your everlasting nerves, that headache that keeps coming back no matter how much medicine you take, or that one thing about your husband that drives you up a wall. My point, get vulnerable and be YOURSELF. You don't have to go to God all deep like how Sister Watermelon at your church prays. You can go to him using incorrect English, like I do, you can have your blonde moments, (like i also do lol) you can laugh and just talk to him like you would your best friend. You tell your best friend everything. You spill all the "tea." Well thats exactly how God wants your relationship to be with Him. You don't have to put on a mask or guard yourself like we sometimes have to be with people. No, He wants You! The authentic You.
6) Yayyyy Study Time. I love this part of my alone time. New revelation is being deposited into my spirit. There was a time during my salvation, I lost the desire to study. I just wasn't so thrilled about actually getting in the word. So I prayed for God to give me a hunger for His word ... and He did! Where I study from, depends on a couple of things; what obstacles I'm facing at that very moment, what I want to deepen my revelation on, the many attributes of God I want to be reminded of, etc. For instance, some days I want to be reminded of Gods faithfulness, so ill study the Old Testament. Other days I might be battling with worry or discontentment, so ill chew on some scriptures in the New Testament that relates to it. Whatever the Spirit leads me, I'm studying it.
7) Journal. I have several journals (because I love to write lol). During journal time I just write down anything that fell on my heart during my alon Want to add a caption to this image? Click the Settings icon. e time. Maybe I'd gotten a word from God or maybe a scripture really hit home, or I received some incredible revelation, so I jot it down. I also use my journal at work, when I want to pray and I cant out loud, I'll pull out my journal and began to write to God, "Dear Dad! I love you so much! You're the best Daddy ever! Thank you for your son Jesus, He's the best thing that has EVER happened to me ..." Your journal is that secret place where you and God can have conversations and its between just the two of you.
Hope this helps someone! I might just start a forum so we all can share about our "alone time" with God. Love You All!

Thanks Ladies!! You guys have some really good key points!! "Talk to God instead of Man" & "Consistency"
This is good. Consistency is key too. God doesn't like a murmuring tongue
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!! War room! A place to talk to God instead of calling others on the phone to complain about our situations...... Give it to Jesus! And show Him that's you love Him for just being who He is!!!
You're Welcome! 🙂
I need to do this more!!!! Thanks for the inspiration.
